Create an Irresistible Headline

One common mistake that most bloggers make is they actually write the content first before actually thinking about the headline. You have to think about the title first!

The reason is that the title is the first one that your readers are going to see. If they find that your title is boring, has no specific direction, or is just too vague or arbitrary, you can bet that they won’t click on it.

So, how do you create an irresistible headline? Well, you must first choose a topic that is worth your readers’ time. Next, you want to appeal to their senses and the way to do that would be to use sensory words. For instance, if you are writing an article about treating migraine, instead of just the generic “treatment for migraine” title, you can go for “3 Ways to treat Pounding and Blinding Migraines”, which is way better and it is much more compelling than the previous example.

Make a Swift Introduction

Another common error that bloggers make is that they make their introductions as formal as possible. That is good if you are creating your thesis, for example, but being too formal in a blog post could instantly kill your chances of hooking your readers.

Instead of being too formal, you can go for an approach where you understand your audience’s pain points. What I mean is that you be in their shows and show empathy.

For instance, if you are writing an article about how to write better, you know how hard it is back when you didn’t know anything. However, you’ve learned to overcome that, so you want to share your experience with your audience.

People love storytelling so make it a point to make your articles as conversational and as compelling as possible.


Write Content that is Too Good to Ignore

Your article’s structure is so important that it is just as important as your actual written content. You see, people love to scan the article for interesting information, so you want to make pit stops along the way by using your subheadings.

When using them, make sure that you make it a little bit creative. Do not make it in a way that it spoils what you are about to say and do not write something that is too cryptic that your audience does not know what you are talking about.

As for your actual content, that will depend on the purpose of your article. If you aim to provide advice or tips, you want to use your subheadings to segregate information into specific and bite-sized chunks. This will make it so much easier for your readers to digest.

As a blogger who wants to earn money through writing, it is quite tempting to hook your readers into reading your article, only for them to have to pay you to buy your e-book that contains everything they need to know.

Although that was a good strategy, it is no longer the case today. People want to gain as much information as possible, so be generous and provide that to them for free.

Now, I am not saying that you shouldn’t use the old model, but you should only use that in conjunction with giving them something that is worth their time (for free).
